I love a good quote. I’m always jotting down the inspirational one-liners. Some of my favorites include:
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” – Wayne Gretzky
“Even when you’re on the right track you’ll get run over if you just sit there” – Will Rogers
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then is not an act, but a habit” – Aristotle
“Nobody’s better than you…and you’re not better than anybody” – My Mom
Wisdom comes from so many different resources. It’s one of the few attributes we can acquire from other people. Of course we learn from our own experiences but we can learn from other’s as well if we’re paying attention.
If the Bible were a shopping mall, there would be a delightful boutique right in the middle called “Wisdom”. The designers would include Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, Psalms and even a small rack from Job. Right smack in the middle of the Bible you can find quips, quotes and inspiration for your parenting skills, your relationships, and successful living. Look what I found while “shopping” today:
“Make your words good-you will be glad you did. Words can bring death or life! Talk too much, and you will eat everything you say” Proverbs 18:20-21 YIKES!
Years ago I was wrought with anxiety about a trip to Europe with my family. I was concerned that my heat-intolerance would be a handicap to the ambitiously planned sight-seeing. I was seriously nervous when the morning of my flight I encountered a devotion that talked about trust. The author clearly stated that “Jesus goes before me, Jesus goes beside me, Jesus goes behind me.” Those words of wisdom carried me through my trip, and even some harrowing adventures. Those words made me BRAVE. Those who know me well, know that I’ve continued to say those words A LOT. I say them regularly as I face new challenges.
WHAT WORDS OF WISDOM HAVE IMPACTED YOUR LIFE?????? …send me your favorite quips and quotes.
